Football Betting Apps with Enhanced Odds and Price Boosts

Enhanced odds, also called price boosts, give you a bigger price than normal on a selected bet. Most UK bookmakers run them every day on big football matches, and some also give you boost tokens to use on your own bets.

How enhanced odds work

A bookmaker picks a selection, for example a team to win or a player to score, and offers a bigger price than usual. You place the bet as normal at the boosted price.

  • Most boosts have a low maximum stake, often £5 to £25.
  • Boosted bets usually can’t be used to qualify for welcome offers. Unibet and Ladbrokes both exclude boosted bets from their sign-up offers, for example.
  • Some boosts pay the extra winnings as cash, others as a free bet. Check before you bet.

Price boosts vs boost tokens

There are two main types. Price boosts are set by the bookmaker on a specific bet, so you can only take the selection on offer. Boost tokens, such as Paddy Power’s Power Up, Sky Bet’s Boosters and Betfair’s Bet Boost, let you add a percentage boost to a bet you choose, within the token’s rules.

Tokens are usually more useful for regular bettors, because you can apply them to the bets you were going to place anyway.

How to tell if a boost is good value

  • Compare the boosted price with the normal price at other bookmakers. A boost from 4/6 to evens is only good if other bookmakers aren’t already offering close to evens.
  • Check the maximum stake. A big boost on a £5 maximum is worth far less than it looks.
  • Read how winnings are paid: cash or free bet.
  • Only back a boost you would have bet on anyway. A boost doesn’t make a bad bet good.
